Making an Eras Tour dream come true.
Where are my Swifties? Did anyone go to the Eras Tour in Denver this summer? Well, Susanna and Joe did, and they went all out in their costumes, inspired by the Willow video. This level of effort needed to be documented, outside of just attending the concert. (Let's just take a moment to appreciate the attention to detail. WAY TO GO, SUSANNA!)
For those who don't know me, I'm not the biggest Taylor Swift fan around. It's not that I don't like her music, it's that I'm a total nerd who stopped listening to new music before Taylor's time. Ask me about the hits of the 90's and earlier, or more embarrassingly, ask me about emo music from the early 2000's... Hah!
But even still, I can't describe my excitement when Susanna reached out to me about doing this session. I jump at the chance to celebrate creativity like this! Immediately, I watched the Willow video, and started sharing out ideas and locations for this shoot. The planning process was SO fun.
Details among the wildflowers.
Susanna's vision for her Taylor Swift-inspired shoot was to find an open field. And it would be an extra bonus if we could find some wildflowers, since it was prime wildflower season in Colorado Springs. Initially, we planned on a different location, but by chance I hiked at Pulpit Rock and found this dreamy spot the weekend before our shoot. It couldn't have turned out more beautifully. With the blooming wildflowers, the vast grassy fields, and the misty mountains below on this overcast evening.
All of those details just made this shoot. The stars aligned, but it wouldn't have been possible without all the work that Susanna and Joe did beforehand. They sourced the perfect Taylor Swift-inspired Willow dress. Susanna did her hair perfectly, and the headband detail was so dreamy. Joe effortlessly played the part of "love interest." :)
For this shoot, I knew I wanted to focus on capturing all of these beautiful details in an almost editorial style. Outside of that, I wanted this to be a fun shoot, so we focused on posing that involved movement. All of my prompts for the couple and their posing was based on the Willow video, and I had so much fun dreaming them up, and even more fun seeing them come to life.
Wherever you stray, I follow.
Susanna and Joe - THANK YOU so much for letting me capture such a fun memory for you this summer. You literally stepped out of the Willow video and into the Eras Tour with these costumes. I absolutely loved showcasing your creativity, and I SO enjoyed stepping away from my typical shoots to explore my creativity too.
